ABOUT US
The National Institutes of Health is funding a research study looking at a way to transition a child from tube feeding to oral feeding.
Children from 9 months old to 9 years, 0 months old are eligible to participate in this 6 month study. Your child will be randomly assigned to receive an experimental drug or placebo and receive feeding skills coaching to help your child learn to eat by mouth.
There is no cost to participate. Once entered into the study, all visits with the research team are also provided at no cost. We will closely monitor your child throughout the study.
SERVICES
Children who participate in the iKanEat study will receive behavioral feeding therapy throughout the 6 month program, and 4 week course of either an appetite stimulant or a placebo medication. After receiving 10 weeks of feeding therapy and the study medication, our medical team will help you and your child reduce their tube feedings while increasing foods eaten by mouth. We will monitor your child closely through 4 visits to one of our clinics, and our feeding coach will check in with you every 2 weeks to see how you and your child are doing.
